The Liturgy Commission develops the objectives for and coordinates the most important area of parish life – the worship of our faith community. Numerous groups and committees contribute to our worship.

The various committees that make up the Liturgy Commission are listed below.

This Committee is responsible for the visible interior of the Church -banners, flowers, vestments. Those skilled in artistic design, floral arrangements, sewing, and those willing to hang banners, etc. are welcome.

These ministers distribute the Body and Blood of Christ on Sundays at school Masses, and special events. Parishioners 21 and over are invited to be trained and serve on a rotating basis – approximately every three weeks.

These ministers assist with helping those who are confined or housebound to take part in the Eucharist. They go to the nursing homes and residences of those who are unable to attend regular Mass. These communion calls are a vital part of stewardship and volunteers are welcome to take part.

Those who are high school age and over are invited to accept the responsibility of proclaiming the Scriptures at our Masses. Training is provided and assignments are on a rotating basis.

Individuals and families carry the gifts of bread, wine and the gifts of treasure to the altar at the Offertory procession during Mass. Gift bearers are scheduled to serve every few months.

These parishioners perform routine duties during Mass including collecting the offering, making sure the church is presentable before and after Mass. Ushers serve at a regular Mass. 

These parishioners’ welcome people as they enter the church, distribute programs, and hand out the worship aid at Masses and special Liturgies.

These parishioners commit to a certain hour of adoration weekly or monthly during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament each Friday or the first Friday monthly 24-hour vigil so that someone is always present in the Little Flower Chapel during Eucharistic Exposition.

These young men and women assist the Priest and Deacon at Mass. They also help wherever necessary before Mass and after Mass. Fifth graders and older are welcome. Servers commit for one year at a time.

Adults proclaim and explain the Sunday Scripture readings to children during the 10:30 AM Sunday Mass.

Parishioners of all ages are invited to assist in a variety of small, shared jobs to maintain needs of daily Mass chapel, Sacristy, and Church. Duties coordinated by the Head Sacristan include: dusting, polishing, caring for plants, changing altar linens, candles and Holy Water, and washing communion cups, purificators, finger towels, albs and linens as needed. Families, groups, and youth welcome for annual November cleaning.

Fund Raising

The Administration and Finance Commission oversees the Stewardship Program of the Parish, develops and monitors the annual operating and capital expense budgets, and provides for the maintenance of the parish plant and grounds. The Commission meets the second Sunday of the month at 11:30 AM in the Rectory.

This Committee develops the budget process and puts together the annual fiscal year budget. The committee monitors the income and expenses on a monthly basis.

The Committee monitors the maintenance of the parish buildings and grounds. It develops an annual repair schedule for the school building.

This Committee is responsible for the annual renewal of our Stewardship program – both the stewardship of Treasure and the stewardship of Time and Talent. The Committee is also responsible for the Stewardship portion of the Welcoming process for new parishioners.

This Committee is responsible for major fund-raising activities, designed to generate revenues to be applied to school and parish operating expenses. Annual events have included the Auction and Raffle.

The Committee is responsible for the annual appeal program. It includes the Advanced Gift Program as well as the regular appeal.

The Christian Formation/Evangelization Commission is responsible for the development, promotion and evaluation of religious education programs. While it addresses the continuing Catholic Christian education of all members of the parish, its particular emphasis is adult faith formation. It also implements the Bishops’ Plan for Evangelization by raising awareness of Jesus as the center of our lives and our parish, providing opportunities for our own spiritual growth and for reaching out to welcome others. The Commission works in collaboration with the Director of Faith Formation. The Commission meets an average of 8-10 times yearly, scheduled around the planning of faith development programs.

These parishioners pray for the needs of individual parish families, the parish, the Church, and the world. They receive a monthly letter indicating the specific needs for which they offer prayer.

Parishioners who are planning to have a child baptized attend a special class held at the parish.

This process prepares adults for sacramental initiation into the Church. Sponsors are needed to accompany the candidates for the sessions and make them “at home.” Parishioners are invited to joint the RCIA team or to serve a few times during the year as Prayer Leaders and Refreshments/Hospitality persons.

The following parish organizations present a wide variety of social, spiritual and service activities available to all ages.

An opportunity for spiritual, educational, and social formation for high school teens. We gather monthly for various activities such as general formation meetings, social events, and Mass. The length of the event is usually two hours.

The purpose of Girl Scouts is to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service, to offer girls the experience of working in a group, making decisions as a group, and sharing and learning together.

Membership: Brownies: 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade girls, Juniors and Cadets

Volunteer Opportunities: Leader, Co-leader, cookie manager, etc.

Must be at least 18 years old.

The purpose of the Ladies Club is to aid the work of the parish and school and provide a social environment for the women of the parish.

Meetings: Second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. (Rosary at 7:00 p.m.)

Membership: Women of the parish (18 years of age and older) and mothers of children enrolled in the school.

Committees: School Committee, Dancing School, Special Events

The purpose of the Legion of Mary is to increase the personal holiness of its members through the imitation of the virtues of Mary, to foster a deeper devotion to Mary among all people and to undertake apostolic works.

Meetings: Weekly on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM in the Rectory Meeting Room.

Membership:

Active membership – Persons 18 years or older who meet and perform two hours of apostalic work

Auxiliary membership – Persons 18 years or older willing to say a rosary and specific prayers each day.

Activities:

•First Friday Eucharistic Adoration

•Weekly personal visits throughout the parish area for census taking surveys

•Evangelization of shut-ins

•Auxiliary members contacts

The purpose of the Knights of Columbus is to help Catholic men grow in their faith through mutual encouragement; to promote closer ties of fraternity among them; and to embody knightly ideals of spirituality and service to Church, community and fellow humans.

Meetings: Fourth Tuesday monthly, 8:00 PM in school hall following Rosary at 7:30 PM.

Membership: Any Catholic man 18 years of age or older.

The purpose of the Men’s Club is to promote and sponsor athletic, social, educational and spiritual activities.

Meetings: Third Wednesday monthly at 7:30 PM in the school hall.

Membership: Men of the parish 18 years or older and fathers of children enrolled in the school.

Committees: Athletic director and coaches; Field Maintenance Director and workers.

Activities:

The purpose of the Respect Life Committee is to promote respect for human life at all of its stages by providing spiritual, educational, legislative and pastoral opportunities to the parish and school to nourish a culture of life.

Membership: Everyone is invited.

Activities:

•Project Rachael, post abortion counseling

•First Friday Adoration

•Third Saturday Mass and witness at Planned Parenthood Facility

•Cinnamon Bread Sale to benefit Life Line Coalition

•Baby showers to benefit Our Lady’s Inn, Villa Maria, and Birthright

Respect Life opportunities for the parish and school include speakers on the life issues, Spiritual Adoption and the Right Start program for the eighth grade students and parents.

Inspired by the teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides men and women the opportunity to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those in need. It carries on its work in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and under the patronage of St. Vincent de Paul and Our Blessed Mother under her title of the Immaculate Conception.

Meetings: First and third Mondays of the month at 7:15 PM in the Rectory Meeting Room.

Membership: Any adult Catholic who is a parishioner.

Activities:

•Two-person teams make home visits within parish boundaries to people requesting assistance. Help given may include, but is not limited to, financial assistance with costs of food, utilities, etc. No work of charity is foreign to the Society. Strict confidentiality is maintained. Prayer and the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul are ever-present components of the Society’s work. They also sell the Sunday Visitor after all Saturday and Sunday Masses.

The Little Flower Theatre group provides wholesome entertainment in a Christian environment.

Membership: Parishioners – high school age or older with or without theatrical experience.

Committees: Set construction, props; Program; Make-up; Lights and sound; Publicity; Costumes; Actors

Activities:

•Presents annual production in early Spring.

•Rehearsals held in January and February in the school hall.

This committee is responsible for coordinating the Parish/School picnic in the Spring, a large parish fund-raiser and entertainment for all parishioners.

Meetings: Various dates to be announced at the Rectory.

Volunteer Opportunities:

•Set-up, tear-down tents, tables, etc.

•Barbecue during event
